Entertainment in Santiago

Like every great city, Santiago has enough going on to keep you busy 24 hours a day, so if you're looking to be entertained the options are limitless. Some of the most popular types of entertainment include live musical performances, futbol matches between first-division local teams, and dancing at one of many clubs, which begins well after midnight. Take your pick or try them all!

Music, Theater, and Cinema
From opera, symphonies and ballets to open-air concerts, plays, and movies on the silver screen, Santiago has an abundance of venues for all kinds of entertainment.

Futbol Matches
Soccer is the world's most popular sport, and Chile's no different. Soccer matches take place all year long in Santiago, mostly on weekends. Local first-division teams play at the Estadio Nacional in Nunuoa. Colo Colo has the biggest fan base, but Universidad Catolica and Universidad de Chile are also popular teams. Buy tickets at the stadium.

Horse Racing
Santiago has two racetracks and betting on horses is very popular. At the Hipodromo Chile, races are held every Saturday afternoon, and every other Thursday. The Gran Premo Internacional is this track's big event, where competitors from all over South America come together to compete. At the Club Hipico, races are held every Monday, and every other Wednesday. El Ensayo is a century-old race that's held here in early November each year.

Nightlife
Whether you're dancing to live music or a DJ, you won't be able to stand still when you're partying past midnight in Santiago. Many of the better clubs don't draw a crowd until the wee hours of the morning, and the dancing continues through the night.
