Nightlife in Santiago

The city in lights Santiago's bars and clubs are found in three main areas: Bellavista, Providencia, and Nunuoa. Each has a unique appeal. If you have more than one night to explore the city, head to each of the neighborhoods for a variety of experiences. The drinking age in Chile is 18, and is strictly enforced. Most bars and clubs will remain open until about 7 a.m.

Bellavista
Bellavista is creative, colorful, and full of culture. It's the liveliest of the neighborhoods, and the bars are inexpensive-beer often costs more than water along Pio Nono, the neighborhood's main drag. Pio Nono's bars and clubs are as diverse as you could imagine-watch a futbol match, listen to live music, and dance until dawn all in the same night-the street performers will be entertaining no matter what time you head home, and the vendors are hoping that you'll be hungry for a kebab as the sun comes up.

Providencia
If you're looking for a more upscale experience, head to Providencia's Calle Suecia to sip a cocktail in style. Suecia's fashionable scene is considered one of the best for Salsa dancing. It's also very popular with the ex-pat and foreign crowd if you're looking to meet other English speakers.

Nunuoa
Nunuoa's bars are much quieter than Bellavista's or Providencia's, and the bars create a low-key, relaxing environment. The nightlife is centered around Plaza Nunuoa, where the neighborhood's artistic environment lends itself to the best live music scene in Santiago.
